our story

A peek behind the scenes of our little family-run operation from our cozy home in Auckland.

Two people standing together with a scenic background

Hi, I’m Hayley, the founder of Sunday Culture. I live on the North Shore with my partner Jesse and our daughter, Amaia.

Sunday Culture began with a love for candles, calm spaces, and the joy of winding down. After one too many messy burns and wasted jars, I came across sand wax — a clean-burning, refillable alternative that changed everything. I fell in love instantly and knew I had to share it.

What started in late 2024 at our kitchen bench quickly spread through our home. Every batch of sand wax is mixed by hand and packaged by us in our makeshift sand wax studio aka the garage.

Jesse supports the brand in all kinds of ways, from design and branding to market days and heavy lifting. And Amaia takes her role very seriously as our in-house texture tester. If there’s wax nearby, her hands are in it.

what matters to us

transparency

We don’t sugarcoat or overcomplicate. From our ingredients to our intentions, what you see is what you get. We believe honesty builds trust, and trust is everything.

doing it right

We believe in taking our time and doing things properly because shortcuts show. Whether it's the way we craft or the way we communicate, we care about the details.

people first

Everything we make is designed with real people in mind. That means listening, learning, and creating products that support your routines, not disrupt them.

At Sunday Culture, our goal is to bring comfort into your everyday, through products that feel soft, simple, and a little more intentional.

We’re a small family-run brand, with big love behind it and an even bigger vision. Candles are just the beginning, and we’re so glad you’ve joined us on this journey.

For now, we're taking it one Sunday at a time.

Thanks for being part of it.
